Panelists' Bios:

  • Alice Hunt, Instructional Development and Assistant Coordinator, The Teaching Center, UR

Dr. Alice Hunt joined the Teaching Center in 2022 as Instructional Development and Assistant Coordinator and has more than 5 years of experience supporting instructors and departments in developing and adopting OERs. Her particular areas of expertise and interest are educational accessibility and access, and the implementation of OERs in large enrollment STEM courses.

  • Kim Hoffman, Assistant Dean, Engaged Learning & Research, River Campus Libraries, UR

Kim Hoffman, RCL's Assistant Dean for Engaged Learning & Research, has leveraged her interests in engaging pedagogy, instructional design, assessment, creating professional development opportunities, and collaborative leadership toward sparking open educational initiatives. A 2019-2020 graduate of SPARC's Open Educational Leadership Program, co-editor of Open Pedagogy Approaches: Faculty, Library, and Student Collaborations, co-founder of the Communities of Practice for the Advancement of Library Instruction (COPALI)/OER Track, and the initiator behind RCL's OER Working Group, Kim is helping to encourage colleagues to adopt open educational practices in both shareable publications and teaching realms.

  • Jonathan Holz, Associate Professor of Instruction, Department of Biology, UR

Jon Holz is Associate Professor of Instruction in the Biology Department at the University of Rochester.  From St. George, Utah, Dr. Holz received his Ph.D. from the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) in Toxicology. He previously taught at NSLC, Finger Lakes Community College, St. John Fisher College, and D'youville College. He has two daughters. One likes Harry Potter the other likes Transformers.

  • Julie Papaioannou, Professor of Instruction in French and Francophone Studies, Department of Modern Languages and Cultures, UR

Dr. P. Julie Papaioannou has been teaching French language, culture, literature (20th and 21st centuries) with interest in Francophone literature and film at the University of Rochester since 2007. Dr. Papaioannou is the Language Pedagogy Coordinator in French with interest in Open Pedagogy and Open Educational Resources (OER).
